Juneteenth Holiday
The League of Women Voters honors June 19 as Juneteenth.
On his day in 1865 Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, TX, to announce the end of the Civil War and emancipation of enslaved Black people.
Because Juneteenth falls on a Sunday in 2022, the State of Colorado's offices will observe the holiday on Monday, June 20.
