TO JOIN OR RENEW


MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

When you join the League of Women Voters (LWV), you are automatically a member at three levels:
  • LWV of Arapahoe and Douglas Counties (LWVADC)
  • LWV of Colorado (LWVCO)
  • LWV of the United States (LWVUS)
Annual membership dues are shared among the local (20%), state (47%), and national (33%) Leagues.

As of February 2025, the LWVUS has changed the membership structure and dues.

Joining, renewing and paying membership dues will now be handled by the LWVUS on the LWVUS website, linked at the JOIN OR RENEW button on this page.

You can pay your annual membership dues by credit card or bank account draft (ACH) on the LWVUS website, or you can pay by check. Check payment instructions are on this page.

If you pay your dues on the LWVUS website, your membership will be set to auto-renew. You can opt out of auto-renew.

Any donation made as part of a dues payment will be shared among the local, state, and national Leagues in the same percentages as the dues. To make a donation directly to the LWVADC, click the LWVADC DONATION button on this page.

MEMBERSHIP TYPES

Every membership is an annual 12-month membership with the renewal date based on the member’s join or 2024 renewal date.
As of February 2025, there are only two types of membership:
  • Primary or Individual
  • Primary-Life or Life
There is no longer a Household or Student membership, but members who share a household can link their memberships. The LWVADC will continue to recognize Student members.

MEMBERSHIP DUES
  • Individual: $75
    $75 is the recommended amount for annual membership dues. The minimum amount is $20. Whether you pay $20, $75, or an amount in-between or above $75, the money will be shared among the LWVADC (20%), LWVCO (47%), and LWVUS (33%).
  • SHousehold or two linked Individuals
    While “Household” is no longer a type of membership, Individual members who share a household can link their memberships. Household-linked members may opt to pay differing dues amounts. For example, one household member may pay the recommended $75 while the other member may pay the minimum $20 or an amount less than $75. The League of Women Voters of Arapahoe and Douglas Counties will offer free membership for one year to encourage students to join and participate in League activities.
  • Student: $20
    While “Student” is no longer a type of membership, the LWVADC will continue to recognize Student members and recommends Students pay $20 for annual dues.
  • Life: $0
    Lifetime members, who have been LWV members for at least 50 continuous years, pay $0 dues.
The League of Women Voters of Arapahoe and Douglas Counties is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and tax exempt organization. Dues and donations are tax deductible to the extent allowable under the law. Tax identification number: 84-0613490.
HOW TO JOIN OR RENEW


  • Step 1: Decide your annual membership dues

    Decide how much you want to pay in annual membership dues. The recommended amount is $75; the minimum amount is $20. Whether you pay $20, $75, or an amount in-between or above $75, the money will be shared among the LWVADC (20%), LWVCO (47%), and LWVUS (33%).

    Taxes: Contributions to the LWVUS are not tax-deductible. The LWVCO and LWVADC are 501(c)(3) organizations, and contributions to both are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

  • Step 2: Decide your payment method

    If you want to pay by credit card or bank account draft (ACH) on the LWVUS website, you will click the JOIN OR RENEW button below. Both payment methods are secure. The Leagues pay smaller transaction fees for ACH payments than for credit card payments. Each dues payment will be separated into three transactions, one each to the LWVADC, LWVCO, and LWVUS. We encourage payment by credit card or bank account draft (ACH) on the LWVUS website.

    If you want to pay by check, email the LWVADC Membership Chair at  lwvadc.membership@gmail.com.  You will receive instructions on writing and mailing the check. Check-payment processing may take one month or longer.

  • Step 3: Make an optional donation to the LWVADC

    If you wish to make an optional donation directly to the LWV of Arapahoe and Douglas Counties, we ask that you do so before paying your membership dues. The LWVADC receives 100% of your direct donation, and your direct donation is tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

    To make a direct donation to the LWVADC by credit card or bank account draft (ACH), click the LWVADC DONATION button below. Both payment methods are secure.

    To make a direct donation to the LWVADC by check, write the check to LWVADC and mail it to LWVADC, PO Box 630004, Littleton CO 80163-0004.



  • Step 4: Join or renew and pay your membership dues

    Join or renew and pay your membership dues by credit card or bank account draft (ACH) by clicking the JOIN OR RENEW button below. You will be sent to the LWVUS website, where you can update your contact information and pay your membership dues by credit card or ACH. If you have not made a direct donation to the LWVADC by clicking the LWVADC DONATION button below, you will have a separate opportunity to make a direct donation to the LWVADC on the LWVUS website.

    If you want to pay your membership dues by check, do not click the JOIN OR RENEW button. Instead, see Step 2 above.
