Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander Women’s Equal Pay Day is the day that Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) women in the U.S. must work until before they earn the equivalent of what men were paid the previous year.
Each year, this symbolic day is used to raise awareness around and combat the impact of pay inequities. Because women earn less, on average, than men, they must work longer for the same amount of pay.
The wage gap is even greater for most women of color. Starting in 2022, data now includes part-time, seasonal, and gig workers, many of whom are essential workers piecing together multiple part-time jobs to get by.
AANHPI Equal Pay Day 2025 is on April 7 and marks the current state of the gender pay gap for these women. For Asian American women:, 94% for full-time, year-round workers and 83% for all workers (including part-time and seasonal). For Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (NHPI) women: 65% for full-time, year-round workers and 61% for all workers (including part-time and seasonal).

Groundwater is vital as a critical source of drinking water, supports agriculture and industry and acts to sustain natural ecosystems and also is a crucial buffer against drought. Close to 50% of the people in the United States depend on ground water for drinking water. Groundwater also replenishes rivers, lakes and streams that support animals, plants and fish.
But ground water can be over pumped and there is a need for long-term planning and management for sustainability. Courtney Hemenway will discuss how this resource can be managed for present uses and as a resource for the future.
