National Patriot Day and Day of Service
About this event
The League honors National Patriot Day as a day of unity, patriotism, and service. On this day we remember those who lost their lives and honor the extraordinary acts of heroism on September 11, 2001 by firefighters, police officers, and EMTs rushed into crumbling buildings and raging fires to save others. We also honor the acts by ordinary people such as construction workers, co-workers, and strangers attempting to rescue and tend to the wounded. Flight passengers and crewmembers also gave their lives to thwart another attack.
