About this event
Featured Community Event:
"Stand With Immigrants" Rally
and March to Capitol
Join Latino Advocacy Day's "Stand With Immigrants" rally
and march to the Colorado State Capitol.
Legendary civil rights advocate Dolores Huerta,
who led the United Farm Workers of America
alongside Cesar Chavez and is credited with creating the slogan
"Si Se Puede" (Yes We Can),
will speak at the Grand Hyatt Hotel.
Registration to see Huerta at the Grand Hyatt is closed,
and Latino Advocacy Day, the main organizers for the event,
are expecting more than 400 people to attend her speech,
which will start at 11 am. A march from the Grand Hyatt
to the Colorado State Capitol's west steps
will follow immediately after.
Dolores Huerta, who is 94, may not be present
for the march or the Capitol rally.
The rally is billed with the slogan "Stand With Immigrants."
Latino Advocacy Day is a group that formed after the state legislature
began recognizing March 16-18 as Latino Advocacy Day
more than eighteen years ago.
The event is also supported by the Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition
and the Voces Unidas de las Montañas, a nonpartisan organization.
The march will start at the
Grand Hyatt Hotel
1750 Welton St
Denver, CO 80202
map
and end at the Colorado State Capitol.
