Anniversary of Ratification of 13th Amendment
About this event
The League of Women Voters celebrates the anniversary
of the ratification of the 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution,
abolishing slavery, on December 6, 1865.
It also abolished involuntary servitude in the United States,
with the exception of punishment for a crime.
