Latina Women’s Equal Pay Day

About this event

Latina Women’s Equal Pay Day is the day that Latina women must work until before they earn the equivalent of what men were paid the previous year.

More than 50 years after the passage of the Equal Pay Act of 1963, Latinas working full time, year-round and part-time earn only 54 cents for every dollar earned by white, non-Hispanic men.

Latinas who work full time year-round earn 57 cents to the dollar.

Equal pay days were started by the National Committee on Pay Equity (NCPE) in 1996. Their goal was to raise awareness about the gender wage gap.
