Asian American and Pacific Islander Women’s Equal Pay Day

About this event

Asian American and Pacific Islander Women’s Equal Pay Day is the day that Asian American and Pacific Islander women must work until before they earn the equivalent of what men were paid the previous year.

The average Asian American / Native Hawaiian / Pacific Islander woman is paid $0.75* for every $1.00 paid white, non-Hispanic men, losing hundreds of thousands of dollars over a 40-year career. Conversely, AANHPI women working full-time make $.95 for every $1 paid to a white, non-Hispanic man.

Equal pay days were started by the National Committee on Pay Equity (NCPE) in 1996. Their goal was to raise awareness about the gender wage gap.
