The League of Women Voters celebrates
the United Nations' International Day of Democracy.
Our democratic principles are constantly under threat
as our civic space is shrinking and distrust,
misinformation and disinformation are growing.
There are unprecedented threats to the freedom
of journalists, media workers, and the press.
International Day of Democracy will focus on the importance of media freedom
to democracy, peace, and delivering on the sustainable development goals.
