Black Women’s Equal Pay Day

Black Women’s Equal Pay Day is the day that Black women must work until before they earn the equivalent of what men were paid the previous year.

Based on Census data, the wage gap for Black women compared to non-Hispanic white men is 67 cents for full time, year-round workers and 64 cents for all workers (including part time).

It is imperative we demand pay equity for Black women, many of who are leading their communities in organizing against police violence and systemic anti-Black racism– including where it shows up in the workplace.

Equal pay days were started by the National Committee on Pay Equity (NCPE) in 1996. Their goal was to raise awareness about the gender wage gap.
